How to manage your paid membership

How to access and manage your account

To view paid material on the website, you must be logged in, otherwise the system doesn’t know you’re a paid subscriber, and if you’re not logged in and then click on a paid post, you’ll be asked to upgrade.

To sign in, go to the home page at https://theclearing.katherine-may.com/, click ‘log in’ in the top right corner, and enter the email address you used to subscribe (if you were migrated across from Substack recently, this will be the same email address that you used for your Substack account).

Can’t login?

If the email you think is associated with your account doesn’t work, please try any others you might have used before contacting us for support. You can usually solve your problem quicker this way.

Once you’ve entered the correct email address, you’ll be emailed a code which you’ll need to enter to complete the sign-in process. If you prefer to set a password, you can do this at this stage.

When you are logged in, you’ll have access to all paid material. If you have a paid subscription and can’t access it, then you’re not logged in.

And if you can still see ‘LOG IN’ in the top right corner of the home page, you’re not logged in.

Managing your account

Once you’re signed in, you’ll see a little icon that looks like a head and shoulders in the top menu bar on the right of any page on the website. 

Hover over that and you’ll see ‘manage profile’. This is the place where you can view and manage your subscription, and update your billing info. You will receive posts in your email inbox, or you can access them via the website.

Using the community

Paid subscribers have access to our brilliant community. To join, please click on ‘Community’ in the top menu bar. You might be asked to sign in again. At the moment, the Community feature on beehiiv is very new, and so improvements are ongoing. At the moment, for example, there isn’t a link back to the main website, but we’re confident that this will be improved soon.

Cancelling your subscription

This has to be done via this link, which takes you to our payment system, Stripe. We unfortunately can't access your account in Stripe, so we're unable to do this for you.
